During the late 1800's to early 1900's the United States was "civil unrest" much like it is today in 2017. Many minority groups are still fighting to have a piece of the American pie. The government couldn't agree on reforms that needed to be implemented. A sense of well being allowed the middle class to address problems of social and economic reform.
