William Grant Still´s Afro-American Symphony included D Tenor banjo.
He was the first African American symphony writer. he played the violin, cello, and oboe in theater and nightclub orchestras. He added the unique use of "the solo banjo in the 3rd movement of Afro- American Symphony."
