Age of James =k+x+x=(k+2 x) years-----(2)

Equating (1) and (2)

2 k= k+2 x

2k-k=2x

k=2 x

And, Alex's age=24

k+x=24----(3)

k-2x=0---(4)

Subtracting 4 from 3, we get

3 x=24

Dividing both sides by , 3 we get

x=8

Putting the value of x in equation 4, we get

k=2*8

k=16

So, James Age =2k years

               =2*16

               =32 years
