Nelson Mandela was a south african activist and a lawyer by profession. He stood up against, the apartheid laws in his country against the Africans. After serving 27 years in prison for his efforts to remove racial discrimination in his country, he was released because of an international campaign that forced the authorities to release him. After his release he went to the then President and asked him to conduct a multiracial elections. This is when he became the first black president of South Africa from his party ANP. He served from 1991 to 1997. He was also a philanthropist who did a lot of charity work. 
Nelson Yolihlahla Mandela was a South African man. He was a South African nationalist. Born on July 18 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa, he fought for South Africa's freedom during the time of the apartheid when many lives were lost. He was arrested and spent 27 years of his life in prison as a protest for the apartheid. When he got out of prison, he was elected president. He spent 67 years of his life serving his country. His birth name was Yolihlahla but was nicknamed Nelson by his school teacher. He died on December 5 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Hope i helped.
