When reports (or any valuable information) is written down, workers are able to go back to the source and compare the reports and use the information for future necessities. When important information is not put in writing, it can be forgotten or not used to its full potential because others who could benefit from the information may not even know it exists. Comparing information allows decision makers to have a clear 'head' when deciding between various options.
