Stories generally provide entertainment, but some have morals embedded in them. In such cases, the writer's purpose is to instruct the audience, not just enthrall them. These stories are also known as didactic tales. To "instruct" means to tell how to do something, which the story aims to and when something is "didactict", it aims to teach something.
For Plato users the first answer is "instruct" and the second answer is "didactic".
