Partick Henry made an interesting proposal. He thought that the American should have an imperial Union with Britain. 
This would mean that all the laws passed by the Brisith Parliament would also have to get approval from the American assembly for them to be valid in America. 

They decided to try to not purchase anything form Britian. 
They also created the declaration of colonial rights.

On December 1, 1774, the Continental Association was formed to blacklist all connection with British products. By modifying the financial penalties set on the colonists, the members expected Britain would abolish its Offensive Acts.

Partick Henry brought the concept that all of the colonies should assume of themselves as one whole America and not separate areas. Under this plan, all bills of Parliament would have to be signed by an American association to take effect.

The first Continental Congress met from Sept 5-Oct 26, 1774. It comprised of 55 representatives from 12 territories. They declared The Declaration of Rights and Grievances a request to the king to revive freedoms and privileges they considered they automatically regarded as British captions.

The Congress had three intentions: to form a declaration of colonial powers, to recognize British parliaments demolition of those rights, and to implement a strategy that would persuade England to reestablish those rights.

The affiliates accepted to blacklist British gains and succeeded resolutions supporting colonial rights. They also favored conference over in May 1775, if the British did not renew their plans.

In revenge, the King and Lord North of England determined to punish and undermine the colonies. They obstructed colony entrance to the North Atlantic netting range.
