Answer:- The variables are time and number of handbags.

Explanation:-

A variable is a quantity which varies. There are two kinds of variables 1) Independent variable- which is not dependent on any factor. 2) Dependent variable-which is dependent on independent variable.

Here, time is the independent variable and number of handbags is dependent variable which is dependent on time.

So each point on graph describe the number of handbags made by Mandy at a particular time.

The VARIABLES (dependent & independent) are : Number of handbags sold, & Time respectively

  1. Independent Variable is the causal variable, on which the other (dependent) variable depends.
  2. Dependent Variable is the resultant variable, which is being affected by the causal (independent) variable.
  • Here, 'time' is the independent variable, on which the dependent variable 'number of handbags' depends.
  • Usually, independent variable is on X axis, so time is on X axis here. And, dependent variable 'number of handbags' is also on Y axis, as per the general notion.

VARIABLES' RELATIONSHIP as per the graph

  • Initially, graph is vertical, which symbolises increasing Y at constant X . This implies Mandy can sell increasing handbags at this stangnant time
  • Later, graph is horizontal, which symbolises increasing X & constant Y. This implies that she can sell constant bags for a further period of time
  • This relationship pattern goes on : Increasing sales at same time for a period of time, & constant sales for further period of time.
  • Towards the ending of curve, the sales are stagnated (constant) with increasing , as denoted by horizontal curve.
