A mnemonic for the six steps of the policy making process is:I - Identification of the problem areasA - Agenda - set up the agenda for the meeting to be held with the various decision makersF - Formulate the policy. In other words, draw up a document that states what the problem is and how the policy will solve the problem. A - Adopt the policy. A meeting is held with the federal committee that is responsible for the signing the policy into law. If the committee agrees to adopt the policy, it is ready for the implementation phase.I - Implementation phase. The policy is implemented at a state or federal level.
E - Evaluation phase. The implementation phase needs to be evaluated to see it it is a success or failure.
