Can rock undergo compression, tension, and shear stress all at once? Explain.

The rock could only withstand all of the forces at once if they canceled each other out. Otherwise, the rock would have to have the compression, tension, and shear stress is different places on the rock. If it was all on the same point, though, the rock probably wouldn't be able to handle it.
