Expand by the bottom row:
0*([1,-1],[x,x]+x([-1,x],[x,x^2])+1([x,1],[x^2,x])
=0+x(-x^2-x^2)+1(x^2-x^2)
=0+(-2x^3)+1(0)
=-2x^3
