summarize the ways in which various campaign finance laws have restricted the political activities of groups, including corporations and unions

Respuesta :

The campaign finance laws restrict the power of corporations and unions because they limit their capacity to do lobbying. Corporation and unions base much of their power in their faculty to influence members of the congress, secretaries of the government and important people of the political world, Lobbying is not ilegal in the USA. When laws state that there are caps for contributions for political campaigns they somehow limit the power of Lobbying doers. The logic behind limiting laws is that authorities have to work for people not for groups of people.

Answer:

The federal laws claim strict disclosure of different requirements and donations that limits and impinge privacy rights, freedom to express and hampering the political participation process. However, according to the opponents, the "federal campaign laws" do not go far to "mitigate corruption" and unnecessary influence of interests that are not disclosed.

It should, however, be noted that the federal laws are applicable for people who took part in the elections. This is because it is the state that enacts and enforces the laws for local elections.
