The gender gap in career attainment is partially accounted for by women underestimation of their own achievement, and although that today has changed considerably, women still have a tendency to exclude themselves from certain careers or situations, out of fear or distrust, and more so if they come from Latin, Asian or Middle Eastern countries.
The gender gap in career attainment is partially accounted for by women themselves.
In our general perception, woman are thought to be lesser than men. It is generalized that women can't do everything that men can easily do. Women in our societies are raised in such environment. They think themselves less significant than men. They don't consider their achievements worthy enough to be proud of. That creates a gender gap in career attainment.
Indeed there are certain tasks that can be done by men only, like digging, mining, or any task involving hard physical movements. But it does not mean that women are minor than men. There are certain areas where women are more efficient in their work.
So we need to shorten or remove this self created gap by women. Women should not underestimate their achievements.
