Also translate, Twelve less than a number is equal to three more than four times a number.

Product is multiplication. 

A number and 4 : 4x

Increase by 1 : +1

Put it together:

4x + 1 = -3


Twelve less than: -12

A number: x

Three more than: +3

Four times a number: 4x

Put it together:

x - 12 = 4x + 3
