What makes Christopher Columbus important to world history besides ‘discovering’ America?

he was a really brave man and wanted to adventure a lot.
The reason why it is important is because if he didn't discover America then it will probably be someone else. He was sent to America for treasure from a Queen. So he is important in the world history.
