The Manifest Destiny is the idea that "God" supposedly told the colonists that the country needed to be converted to Christianity and white culture in order to thrive. White people not only believed that their way of life was superior, but that God chose their race to educate the Native Americans. Obviously, that was nonsense (to put it nicely). Americans also believed their culture to be the most effective for improving their lifestyle and modernizing things. The Manifest Destiny was an excuse for the whites to try to convert Native Americans to their religion, eliminate their culture and introduce them to American culture, and to remove Natives from their land. The whole idea that it was a divine calling for white people to force their culture on the Native Americans was inherently racist and built on a belief that whites were superior. Hope this helps!
