This is pseudoscience, because:
1) The researchers were so excited to report that they had discovered a fuel that burns so hot that it becomes cold. - This would have to be proven again. It may not be this that caused the explosion.
2) Much to the relief of the original team or researchers, no other scientist could ever replicate their find. - It can't be replicated, so once again, it proves that it may not be that the fuel burns so hot it becomes cold
3)The researchers quickly wrote up a report, created a press release, and applied for a patent. - The report can have errors if it had been 'quickly' written. Also, because it could not be replicated, there is no need for a patent, as it could not be 'proven' again
hope this helps

Answer:
⤷ This is an example of pseudoscience. One, they would need to figure out what caused the explosion and what led to the frozen metal. Metal is naturally cold, and this needs to be truly proven. Second, it can’t be replicated by other scientists, making it hard to believe that there’s a gas that can make things so hot that it’s cold. Finally, the text says that they “quickly wrote up a report”, this sounds like they let their excitement get in their way, so they weren’t 100% clear with their “theory” (not discovery).
