Digital radiography gives 70% less exposure to radiation while traditional radiography exposes more radiation than contemporary methods of imaging.
Differences between conventional and digital radiography
- Traditional radiography is costly but digital radiography is comparatively cheaper in terms of processing, or processor repair and maintenance costs.
- Digital image receptors are much more sensitive to low levels of radiation compared to film/screen, therefore digital radiography is more useful.
- Digital radio graphic images can be zoomed but the conventional radiography does not have this option.
- Imaging studies can easily be viewed in computer. They can be shared or transferred to different physicians via CD, USB or email if needed but conventional radiography can’t do this.
