Karl Marx developed the economic theory of Marxism. This stated that "human societies progress through class struggle, which is a conflict between an ownership class that controls production and a dispossessed laboring class that provides the labor for the production." He believed that the laboring class would take over society and change the socio-economic conditions, because capitalism would create this tension.
