Ideally, school policies should be consistent with school counseling ethical standards. I see the values in schools creating policies that are based off their specific population and needs, however, I believe that it is important that counseling ethical standards are also held. If there is a conflict between the 2, I would identify the discrepancies and work with administrators to try to find a way to adapt the policy to adhere to school counseling ethical standards while keeping the intent of her original policy.
