They considered it a crime because it could seriously make someone monopolize the whole world and no one else can buy business and that lets them make their own prices as high as they want
They wanted everyone to have similar access to goods of basic needs and it goes against the 1st ideal of the revolution is the right answer.
The Committee of Public Safety considered monopoly to be a serious offense because it followed the traditional, class-based system of economics that led the French Revolution. The members of the committee wanted everyone to have equal access for the essential goods. Moreover, they concluded that monopolies violated the revolutionary ideas of liberty and equality. Death along with other property taken away or sold was the punishment for those who conducted monopoly.
