The setting of a story is the place, the environment or the surroundings wherein a certain event takes place. A setting can include a specific time and place element or only a comprehensive description on the area or place where something happens. Some examples of settings are Philadelphia, Las Vegas, New York, sunny day on the shore, windy day on top of the mountain and others. Among the choices above, "the North Carolina shore in 1951" is an example of a setting.
