The three highest mountains in the Balkan Peninsula are Mt. Musala, 2925m/9596ft (which is the highest on the Balkan Peninsula),

The highest peaks of the Balkan Mountains are found in
central Bulgaria. The three giants which are considered to be the most
notorious mountains of the country are:
· Mt. Musala of Rila with the height of 2925m or 9596 ft- the highest on the Balkan Peninsula;
· Mt. Vihren which is located at Pirin is about 2914 m or 9560 ft; and,
· Mt. Botev which is about 2376 m or 7795 ft of the Balkan Mountains. The name of the Balkan Peninsula is based on the names of the mountains.
