The neonate has a protruding tongue and a crease that transverses the entire width of each palm. the nurse recognizes that these findings are characteristic of what congenital condition?
The neonate might have Down Syndrome. The protrusion of neonate's tongue might be because of his/her smaller mouth than usual and they also have weak suckling which might caused the protrusion. These two symptoms are usually seen in a child with Down Syndrome.
