Rosalind Franklin was famous for discovering the structure of dna (double helix)

Rosalind Franklin made significant contributions to the structure of DNA, and helical and spherical viruses throughout her brief scientific career.

Contributions of Rosalind Franklin

  • Dr. Rosalind Franklin's X-ray diffraction work at King's enabled the identification of the structure of DNA in 1953.
  • Her famous Photo 51 established the double-helix structure of deoxyribonucleic acid, the molecule that contains the genetic blueprints for all living species' growth.
  • She was a renowned authority at the age of 30 when she turned from carbon to DNA study, and then to nucleic-acid-protein complexes known as viruses a few years later.
  • She made significant contributions that were recognized with two Nobel Prizes. Neither of them were received or witnessed by her.

Franklin's scientific contributions are even more essential now than they were when she was alive, 100 years later.
