2/8 + 2/4
so, what you wanna do is make the numbers have the same denominator, or bottom part of the fraction.
to do this, you have to make 8 into 4, which would mean you divide 8 by 2. and since you do to the numerator what you do to the denominator, now 2/8 is equal to 1/4.
now, you have 1/4+2/4, and since the denominators are the same, you can just add the numerators!!
