Mesopotamia gave rise to civilization because Hammurabi’s Code was the first written law code during the time of ancient civilizations and the rise of Mesopotamia. This law code created a set of rules that a society should follow, causing civilization and order to develop.

Mesopotamian civilizations formed on the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in what is today Iraq and Kuwait. Early civilizations began to form around the time of the Neolithic Revolution.

Some of the major Mesopotamian civilizations include the Sumerian , Assyrian, Akkadian, and Babylonian civilizations.
