As regards the first questions, it might be said that " The narrator and Fortunato are worried about the late hour" (option B). This might be seen in the type of questions stated in the excerpt like "is it not getting late?" which makes a clear reference to time or the passing of time.

In questions 2, it might be said that the correct answer is option D "
The narrator could not find Fortunato when he needed him". He stated the he could not find him ( I could not find "you") when needed. It might suggest how dependent the narrator was on Fortunato.
