According to Erikson, this stage occurs at around the ages of forty and sixty-five. An adult in this phase may ask: "How can I contribute to a better world?"
They can experience generativity by making their mark on the world, whether caring for others, educating children, or creating things that will better the world. Or, on the other hand, experience stagnation when they feel disconnected to the world or that they are not being of use.
