Respuesta :
In the early 21st century, the United States sent troops to both Afghanistan and Iraq to prevent the support and conduct of terror activities.
Answer:
Following the attack of 9/11, Bush´s administration decided to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, aided by other NATO powers, in order to prevent —that was the official public statement— the spread of terrorist groups (Al-Qaeda at that time) and to overthrow regimes that supported these groups. The war in Iraq proved later to be founded on false or misleading premises and the war in Afghanistan, which is still being carried out, is the longest war in the USA´s history and its objectives to this day are still unclear and its consequences —mostly the destabilization of the entire region— are very current in today´s political discourse in the USA.
