PLEASE HELP ME
How can the reader tell that Goodman Brown has been changed by his experience in the woods, based on the following description:

“Turning the corner by the meeting-house, he spied the head of Faith, with the pink ribbons, gazing anxiously forth, and bursting into such joy at the sight of him that she skipped along the street and almost kissed her husband before the whole village. But Goodman Brown looked sternly and sadly into her face, and passed on without a greeting.”

A. He ignores his wife, whom he had been in love with before he left.
B. He kisses his wife for the entire village to see, which he would not have done, previously.
C. He doesn’t recognize her, so the reader knows something happened to his mind.
D. He is crying, so the reader can see how shaken he is by the events in the woods.

Respuesta :

Answer: i think its A cuz it makes more sense to me since it actually happened

Answer:

Based on the description, the reader can tell that Goodman Brown has been changed by his experience in the woods because he ignores his wife, whom he had been in love with before he left. The correct answer is A.

Explanation:

I chose the first option because when Goodman approaches his wife, and the joy in her expression when she saw him, his reaction was not only sober, but indifferent. He recognizes her, he sees her, but he feels nothing but sadness. He is not the same person that left, the experience he had in the woods had turned him into another man, he even "passed on without a greeting" when he saw her, something that he would have never done before.
