13x + 1 = 11x + 8

First, subtract 1 from both sides. / Your problem should look like: 13x = 11x + 8 - 1
Second, simplify 11x + 8 - 1 to 11x + 7. / Your problem should look like: 13x = 11x + 7
Third, subtract 11x from both sides. / Your problem should look like: 13x - 11x = 7
Fourth, simplify 13x - 11x to 2x. / Your problem should look like: 2x = 7
Fifth, divide both sides by 2. / Your problem should look like: x = [tex] \frac{7}{2} [/tex]

Answer: x = [tex] \frac{7}{2} [/tex]
