What effect do stimuli below a person's absolute threshold have on that person's senses?

A person's absolute threshold is the minimal stimulus that a person can detect - for example how loud a sound must be for a person to be able to detect it. 

A stimulus that is below this threshold will not be detected, and as a result, will not have any effect on the person's senses.
