Since she did not get those checks back yet, we should subtract them from her account because the bank eventually will when they are processed.
15 +77.49 + 124.28 =216.77 - total of the checks not yet processed.

 $324.18 - 216.77 =$107.41 which would be her balance once the three checks are processed.   However, she reports that she has  $487.38 so the difference is what she deposited.  $487.38 - 107.41 = $379.97 - answer d.
