To find the percent of a number, you mutliply the percent by the number, then divide by 100. We can use this rule to create an equation:
[tex]50*x/100=18[/tex]
Multiply both sides by 100.
[tex](50x/100)*100=(18)*100[/tex]
Simplify.
[tex]50x=1800[/tex]
Divide both sides by 50.
[tex](50x)/50=(1800)/50[/tex]
Simplify.
[tex]x=36[/tex]
36% of 50 is 18.
