Number value
In mathematics the number is written using a digit or more than one digit. Each place of the digit keeps a place value and a face value.
Face value-
- The value of digit in a number is called its face value. Face value can be identify with the number of the digit. It remains same and does not affected with the place of the value. For example a number is 1256. Here from the right of the number first letter has face value 6. second letter has face value 5. third letter has face value 2. fourth letter has face value 1.
Place value-
- Place value is the value of the digit at a particular place in the number. Place value is different for the different number. For example a number is 1256. Here from the right of the number first letter has face value 6. second letter has face value 50. third letter has face value 200. fourth letter has face value 1000.
In the given number the 9000 has zero ones in it as the from the right of the number the place value of first digit is 0. similarly second and third has zero value. Thus 90 hundreds are there in the 9000 as the 90 is at the place value of the hundred.
We can calculate the hundreds in the 9000 by dividing it to the 100 as,
[tex]=\dfrac{9000}{100}[/tex]
[tex]=100[/tex]
Hence, the 9000 is equal to the 90 hundreds.
