The scientist, Dimitry K. Belayev, was trying to prove that dogs's physical traits- and morphological traits- were changed by natural selection. He thought that the dogs that were friendliest towards humans were selected, and that changed them. To prove it, he domesticated an animal which is very similar to a dog, a fox.
