We need to Expand or Distribute the parenthesis. This by multiply the term outside the parenthesis by the numbers inside the parenthesis.
Expand
[tex]2a(ab+b)-b (3x+a^2)[/tex]
Distribute where possible.
[tex]2a^2b+2ab-3xb-a^2b[/tex]
Combine like terms.
[tex]a^2b+2ab-3xb[/tex]
Rearrange.
[tex]a^2b+2ab-3bx[/tex]
