Bringing combat troops home from Iraq was the area in which President Obama was not successful during his first term in office.
This purpose was expected to be achieved by December 2011. (3rd year on his 1st term). However, as a result of several circumtances, the process was succesfully completed on 2014, during his 2nd term in office.
