Cartilage is a special type of connective tissue that is usually found among developing embryos and young vertebrae skeletons. These are also seen at the ends of long bones which usually becomes framework for bone development.
Chrondrocytes are the main cells of cartilage and has a perichondrium as the fibrous covering.
There are three types of cartilage
1. Hyaline cartilage the prominent cartilage among the three. These serves as the fetal skeleton.
2. Fibrocartilage, usually composed of many collagen fibers.
3. Elastic cartilage which is composed of elastin and serves as internal support of external ear.
