They have a large central vacuole, which is the largest organelle in the cell responsible to maintain the pressure within the plant cell to provide structure by storing water. While animal cells vacuoles perform other functions, assisting in exocytosis and endocytosis. So the main function of vacuoles in animal cells is to remove waste products.  There are many small vacuoles in the animal cell, and they scattered everywhere within the cell.
