PLEASE HELP DUE IN 30 MINUTES
Joseph obtains 12.0 g of sodium chloride (table salt) and 85.0 g of water in separate beakers.
He masses both substances; his data is shown in the table below.
Mass of beaker with sodium chloride 37.8 grams
Mass of beaker with water 127.9 grams

Joseph carefully pours all of the sodium chloride into the water and stirs gently until all of
the sodium chloride has disappeared. Joseph then places the beaker containing the water and
sodium chloride on the balance.
c. Predict the mass shown on the balance. ______________________________
d. Draw particle pictures for before and after Joseph’s experiment.

Respuesta :

First find out the mass of the 'beaker' with water. Which would be 127.9 - 85 = 42.9 grams (42.9 grams = beaker)

C. 12 + 85 + 42.9 = 139.9 g
D. Before the experiment, Joseph had H2O and NaCl. After the experiment, since the salt dissolved, the NaCl separated into Na and Cl ions.
(so you could just draw Na and Cl ions in the beaker after the experiment)
Hope it helped!
