Photosynthetic organisms use the process of photosynthesis to produce their energy. During this process they also take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. If there were less of such organisms, there would be more carbon dioxide and less oxygen in the atmosphere.
If the number of photosynthetic organisms on the earth decreased, then the results are that there would be less oxygen and more carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere.
Photoautotrophs are also called Photosynthetic organisms; they get energy directly from the sunlight and use the energy captured to produce organic compounds in a process known as photosynthesis.
During the process of photosynthesis, the photosynthetic organisms used the inorganic compound of water, carbon dioxide, and sunlight to produce water, glucose, and oxygen.
Further Explanation
Some organisms can capture energy from the sun and in turn, used it to produce organic compounds in a process called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is very important to life as it gives energy to both the consumers and producers.
Examples of photosynthetic organisms include:
- Bacteria (such as Anoxygenic Photosynthetic Bacteria)
- Euglena
- Plants
- Algae (such as green algae, diatoms, etc)
In photosynthesis, light energy is converted to chemical energy and the energy is stored as glucose. The Inorganic compounds are utilized by photosynthetic organisms to produce water, glucose, and oxygen.
Photosynthetic organisms also use carbon to produce organic molecules and the oxygen, which is produced as a bi-product is used for cellular respiration by both plants and animals.
Many of the organisms, directly or indirectly depend on photosynthesis for nourishment
