For number one please do the following....
you will cut the figure into six shapes. You will have two (4 by 3) squares and four (4 by 1 divided by 2) triangles.
Next, you multiply 4 by 3 and get 12 then multiply again and add both of the area of the two squares. the area for the squares is 24 in total.
finally, you will see that the four half figures left make two full figures. then you can multiply 4 times 1 and get 4 . add 4 plus 4 and get 8.
the area of the figure as a whole is 24 plus 8 which is 36.
For number two please do the following...
you will multiply the length times the width which in this case is 14 times 32
the area for the parallelogram is 448.
For number three please do the following...
you will do something similar to number one
you can try this by yourself. :)
For number four please do the following....
you will multiply 11 times 20
the area of the big triangle is 220
then all you need to do is find the area of the smaller triangle and add both triangles together.
