How did Roosevelt change U.S. policy in the Western Hemisphere?

The main way in which Theodore Roosevelt changed U.S. policy in the Western Hemisphere was by instituting a "good neighbor" policy, which basically protected western countries from European incursion, which he believed could be a threat to the US.
