If they wanted the slaves to convert, they could have done it in other ways, especially since  many slaves died very fast, before they would have time to convert so c and because of this d are not true. B is also not true, so the correct answer is a -and this  is also true, they saw themselves  more in tribal terms

I would say A as I don't see my self a European I see myself as British.  

Which is what happened in Africa they didn't see themselves as African so didn't care if they were not in there tribe.
