Kenya plans to make a down payment plus monthly payments in order to buy a motorcycle. At one dealer she would pay $2,450 down and $150 each month. At another dealer, she would pay $3,150 down and $125 each month. After how many months would the total amount paid be the same for both dealers? What would that amount be?

Respuesta :

3150 - 2450 = $700 less down to make up for

150-125 = $25 extra per month to catch up

700 / 25 = 28 months

At 28 months both would be at $6,650
There is another way of doing it. You can just add both amounts to each side until they become the same. That, of course, is the longer way. The faster way is: 700 is the down payments difference, divide that by the difference of the monthly payments quantity 25.  700/25 is 28.

28 months and $6650 is the answer.
