When Filipinos rebelled against U. S. rule, the United States found itself using some of the same tactics that the Spanish had used in Cuba.

Further explanation:

The Filipino-American war which was also known as the Tagalog Insurgency started from the 4th of February, 1899 and ended on the 2nd of July, 1902

The main triggering point of this was the response that followed in the form of an objection to Treaty of Paris. As per the terms of the treaty, the United States had to take Philippines from Spain. This was, apparently, not what Spain had wanted. This led to a conflict that took a few years to settle down in entirety.

The 1899 Battle of Manila was the starting of this war which started from the 4th of February. The United States, being a powerful country, ended up securing victory. But this victory was not easily acceptable to some of the revolutionary groups of Spain, for instance the Katipunam. They did not deter from their position as fighters and resumed their battle with America unaffected by the defeat their country had faced. MacarioSakay was one of the most prominent revolutionary figures of this rebellious revolutionary society. This battle, however, did not end in their favor for a large number of civilians died. This defeat was cultural as well for following this, the entire structure of the island changed in terms of its culture and religion. English became the language of every field ranging from the government to education and business. Every sector came under the influence of the cultures and norms of the United States.

However, this hegemonic control was only temporary for Philippines got independence in 1946 after World War II ended.
