Homeostasis is keeping the body in an acceptable range to allow for maximum body function. The Integumentary system is a huge part of keeping the body within homeostasis. It provides protection from the elements, keeps our insides warm. When it's cold, we get "goosebumps" because the body is trying to get warmer by raising the hairs on our body for extra protection from it being cold. In the heat, we sweat to keep our body cooled off. It keeps us from touching things that are too hot/too cold or things that hurt us. It absorbs nutrients from the sun to keep our body functioning with the proper nutrients that it can accept from the sun.
