    Lascaux is a cave located in the Vézère Valley in southern France, near Montignac (Dordogne). Inside we find images, many of which regard it as the “Sistine Chapel” of paleolithic art. Filled in the walls and ceilings are preserved paintings and prints from the prehistoric period, in yellow, red, brown and black tones.

   Cave paintings represent various animals such as cattle (some measuring four meters in length), goats, felines, horses, deer with geometric shapes, etc. Scholars believe that the place could be a kind of sanctuary, but concrete can only be said about its chronology, using carbon 14 to reach an approximate date. Some figures were dated 17,000 years BC (archaeological term meaning "Before the Present"). Other graphic forms were created more recently, around 15,500 AP.
